What to Order at Roma If You Love Seafood: A Guide for Aberdeen Pasta and Fish Fans

Why Roma is a go-to for seafood lovers in Aberdeen

Located on Main Street in downtown Aberdeen, Roma Ristorante Italiano has built a reputation for authentic, well-seasoned Italian dishes and warm hospitality. Seafood shows up on guest lists again and again—especially shrimp preparations—making Roma a reliable stop when you’re craving pasta with fresh, bright flavors.

Shrimp ravioli: a must-try for delicate, saucy bites

Several diners single out the shrimp ravioli as a standout. Expect pillowy pasta parcels filled with shrimp and served in a sauce that complements rather than overwhelms the filling. This dish is a great choice if you want a focused seafood experience where the shrimp is front and center.

Shrimp linguine pomodoro: bright tomato and garlic notes

For fans of tomato-forward pasta, the shrimp linguine pomodoro is frequently praised. The pomodoro style highlights fresh tomato, garlic, and olive oil, letting the shrimp shine against a lively, slightly acidic base. It’s a satisfying option if you enjoy lighter, palate-cleansing seafood pastas.

Shrimp penne and gluten-free options

If you prefer a sturdier pasta shape, shrimp penne is a versatile pick—good for catching sauce with each bite. Roma has also been noted for offering a gluten-free penne shrimp option, so guests with gluten sensitivity can still enjoy a shrimp pasta. Always tell your server about dietary needs so the kitchen can accommodate them.

If you’re craving fish: ask about piccata-style preparations

While shrimp dishes are most commonly mentioned by guests, Roma’s seafood offerings include fish preparations as well. If you like a bright, lemon-butter profile, ask whether a piccata-style fish (often prepared with capers and a light sauce) is available or can be prepared that way—the kitchen is responsive to reasonable requests.

Drink pairings that complement seafood pasta

Guests have noted that Roma serves beer on tap and pours wine generously. For shrimp in a lemony or buttery sauce, reach for a crisp white (think Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc). For tomato-based shrimp dishes like pomodoro, a light- to medium-bodied red or a fuller white will work nicely. A cold pilsner or an approachable Italian lager is also a pleasant match with lighter seafood pastas.

Sides and desserts that complete the meal

Classic Italian sides make seafood pastas feel complete: a simple Caesar or house salad, warm garlic bread, and the restaurant’s house-baked bread with flavored oil are all commonly enjoyed alongside main dishes. For dessert, guests have praised the cannoli—an ideal finish after a savory seafood plate.

Practical ordering tips from locals

Roma is popular—some diners report busy evenings and occasional wait times—so consider a reservation for dinner, especially on weekends or when visiting with a group. If you’re short on time, takeout is handled efficiently by the staff and can be ready quickly when ordered ahead. Seating toward the back is a good tip for a quieter, more relaxed meal.

What guests notice most: flavor and hospitality

Regular visitors praise Roma for authentic flavors and attentive service. One recent guest specifically highlighted the shrimp linguine pomodoro and noted both beer on tap and generous wine pours, reflecting a dining room that pairs good food with welcoming hospitality. These details capture why many locals return when they’re craving seafood pasta.

How to plan your visit and a final recommendation

Whether you’re celebrating or simply craving a thoughtful plate of shrimp pasta, ordering one of the guest-favored shrimp dishes and pairing it with a crisp beverage is a reliably satisfying choice.

Customer review

I was in town tonight for work and stayed at the hotel adjoining. The restaurant. Came down to have a nice meal and enjoyed it immensely. Great service and excellent food. The Caesar salad was delicious and the shrimp linguine pomodoro was fantastic! Peroni is on tap and the wine was generous. Definitely a nice little gem in Aberdeen!
