First Time at Roma Ristorante Italiano: A Step‑by‑Step Guide for Aberdeen Visitors

Welcome to Roma — what this guide covers

If you’re visiting Aberdeen and want a relaxed, authentic Italian meal, Roma Ristorante Italiano on Main Street is a local favorite. This guide helps first-time guests get the most from their visit: where to park, when to go, how the menu is organized, what staff commonly recommend, and a few easy starter-to-dessert combinations to try.

Finding Roma and parking tips

Roma is centrally located at 104 S Main St in downtown Aberdeen. Street parking and nearby lots serve the area, but several guests note that finding a close spot can sometimes be a challenge during peak hours. If possible, allow an extra five to ten minutes to circle for parking or use nearby public lots; if you’re staying at the adjoining hotel, it’s often easiest to walk over.

Best times to visit — busy vs. quiet

Roma is popular for both lunch and dinner. Weekday lunches can be a pleasant, quicker option, while evenings—especially weekends or holiday nights—can get busy and may involve waits. Reviews mention occasional long waits during peak times, so consider an early dinner (5–6pm) or a later table if you prefer a quieter meal. If you have a specific date in mind, calling ahead to check availability is a good idea.

How the menu is organized

The menu is traditional and straightforward: sections for pasta, chicken, veal, seafood and pizza, plus salads, soups and desserts. Expect classic Italian preparations and a mix of northern and southern styles. Familiar items mentioned by guests include Caesar salad, shrimp linguine pomodoro, shrimp ravioli, chicken parmigiana, and classic veal dishes — helpful anchors if you’re choosing for the first time.

What to order first: starters and small plates

Start with a simple salad or soup to warm up. The Caesar salad is frequently praised by diners, and guests also enjoy the rotating soup of the day — one recent visitor described a cheese tortellini-based soup with a tomato base as comforting and flavorful. Roma’s warm bread with olive oil-based dressing is commonly offered and makes a welcoming opener.

Choosing a main course: tips from regulars

If you favor seafood, shrimp dishes (like linguine pomodoro or shrimp ravioli) are consistently recommended. Chicken lovers often point to the Chicken Parmigiana for its crisp coating and authentic sauce, while veal is singled out by several guests for being particularly well executed. Pizza is also a dependable choice — reviewers compliment the crust and balanced flavors.

Staff recommendations and hospitality

Roma’s team is repeatedly described as welcoming and attentive. Guests report that staff and the owner make diners feel at home, from helpful menu explanations to accommodating families and dietary needs. If you’re unsure, ask your server for their favorite house specialties or what’s fresh that day — servers are happy to guide first-time visitors.

Families and dietary needs (gluten‑free, kids)

Roma provides options for families, including high chairs and a kids menu, and staff are used to helping younger diners navigate the menu. Guests following a gluten‑free diet have also noted available choices — a GF penne shrimp dish was recommended by a visitor — and servers can advise on other GF possibilities. If you have strict dietary requirements, mention them when ordering so the kitchen can accommodate where possible.

Takeout, hotel convenience, and drinks

If you prefer to dine in your hotel room or need a quick meal between meetings, takeout at Roma is efficient—several guests report orders being ready promptly. For hotel guests, Roma’s proximity makes it an easy dinner option. The beverage selection includes beer on tap and a wine list that other visitors describe as generous; feel free to ask the server for pairings with your main course.

Simple starter→main→dessert combos to try

If you want an easy, satisfying progression: 1) Starter: Caesar salad or a cup of the soup of the day; Main: shrimp linguine pomodoro or chicken parmigiana; Dessert: ask about the house dessert special. 2) Starter: warm bread and oil; Main: veal with a classic sauce; Dessert: a light, traditional sweet to finish. Servers can tailor combinations based on portion size and whether you’re sharing plates.

Final tips and arrival checklist

Before you go: allow a little extra time for parking, consider an off-peak reservation if possible, and tell your server about any dietary needs or if you’re celebrating a special occasion. Roma is known for warm hospitality, attentive service and authentic flavors — enjoy exploring the menu and don’t hesitate to ask the staff for recommendations. Buon appetito from downtown Aberdeen!

Customer review

I was in town tonight for work and stayed at the hotel adjoining. The restaurant. Came down to have a nice meal and enjoyed it immensely. Great service and excellent food. The Caesar salad was delicious and the shrimp linguine pomodoro was fantastic! Peroni is on tap and the wine was generous. Definitely a nice little gem in Aberdeen!
